On Eagles' Wings 2011 Prayer Update - Reservation #1 |
|
|
|
It was a sad day for the people of the Turtle Island reservation. They watched as Andy's casket was slowly rolled from the funeral home to the gym where he'd played so many basketball games. He died days away from his July 4th birthday. From a drug overdose at a party. His tragic death was just the latest evidence that the tribe's newfound casino wealth had not changed the hearts and hurts of their young people.
It is Turtle Island where God has led us to begin the Summer of Hope 2011. For a team filled with young warriors who come from reservations with relentless poverty, it was hard to believe that these beautiful homes and facilities could be on a reservation. But a broken life is still just as broken, no matter how much money you wrap it in.

The "Never Before" Warrior Leadership Summit
I grew up singing a little Sunday School song called "Deep and Wide." In recent weeks, I've been doing "deep and wide" praying - for the impact of Warrior Leadership Summit 2011 to be deeper and wider than ever before. And God answered prayer big-time!
- Never before has there been a WLS with so many warriors!
- Never before have we had so many tribes represented - warriors from 92 Indian nations!
- Never before have our speakers so powerfully confronted the battles of a Native young person trying to live for Jesus Christ.

"Warriors for Christ!"
Today is the last and final day of Warrior Leadership Summit. God has done so much in so many hearts. This is the final chance to solidify commitments, and to identify how life back home will now be different with Jesus in charge.
In the morning session, speaker Joe Donnell, Dakota Sioux, shared a message, "Warriors of Light who Battle God's Way." He said, "We expose the dark things in our life by allowing the spotlight of God's Word and Holy Spirit to expose things within us." The key verse was 2 Corinthians 10:4, "The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds."

"Surrender to General Jesus!"
"We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ" (2 Corinthians 10:5).
Warrior Leadership Summit (WLS) continues to make a difference in the lives of these several hundred Native warriors! Relationships continue to deepen, and life-change is taking place. Thank you for your passion for tracking this ministry. Your prayers make a tremendous difference!
