"Thanks be to God who always leads us in triumphal procession in Christ." 2 Corinthians 2:14
That victory parade of Jesus marched through nine Indian reservations this summer, bringing hope to hundreds of Native American young people. Because you prayed, because you gave, you marched with Him and with us on this important life-saving mission. We're deeply grateful.
Here's a small part of what happened in just 32 amazing days.
- Warrior Leadership Summit impacted young Native lives, from over 70 Indian nations across North America...1 out of 5 who attended found Christ as Savior!
- God raised up 50 sold-out young warriors from 24 tribes for this year's On Eagles' Wings team. We only had half that number when we arrived at Warrior Leadership Summit. The size of the team gave us the strength to divide into two teams at times to reach two reservations at the same time.
The On Eagles' Wings team canvassed the homes on nine reservations and conducted 27 major outreach events in 26 days!
- The reservations ranged from one of the poorest in the country to one with lots of money but no more answers for their young people...from an isolated rez at the end of a dead-end road to an urban rez, diffused across a city, plagued with gangs and drugs.
- On each reservation, we met with a motivated team of local leaders who are already hosting or planning On Eagles' Wings-style follow-up events. As they pursue the follow-up plan we've given them, we believe new, ongoing youth ministry can be born.
- An unprecedented 27 of this year's team have expressed their interest in pursuing a Christian education this fall! For many of them, God changed their plans in the past four weeks - and gave them a desire to prepare to be a spiritual leader for their people. Think of the potential for the work of Christ in Native America!
And then there were the eternities changed - in very hard places where commitments to Christ are, at best, rare.
God used the On Eagles' Wings warriors to lead 604 Native American young people to Christ!
Thank you for following us with your prayers. For recruiting others to pray. For giving to send out these warriors. For caring enough to read the battlefield reports we've sent to you.
As much as I've tried in those reports to capture what's happened in this Summer of Hope, there's no way to describe this overwhelming work of God. Words fail. One man who has read the reports for years - and been moved by what he read - was a volunteer cook for the team this summer. He saw with his own eyes the sweeping work of the Holy Spirit on a reservation. Then he read my report the next day. He said, "Ron, you wrote a good report. But there's just no way to even come close to describing it."
That's how it is when God shows up. And He really did this summer. In places that have waited so long for hope. And, in God's way of thinking, you were there. |
