Proposed Dates of the On Eagles' Wings Visit Print E-mail

Prior to our site visits, the On Eagles’ Wings leadership has been prayerfully going over the many letters and e-mail invitations we receive. As we sense God’s leading, we begin to gather a first listing of where the team should visit. It’s important to know that under normal circumstances we do not give consideration to a reservation without first receiving an invitation from a local person or church. Our files are full of invitations from many who would like our team to visit their community. From that initial list, a tentative route is mapped out that takes into consideration normal travel considerations, and wear and tear on the team.

After a tentative itinerary is mapped out, we then move to the stage of contacting local Native ministry leaders. This enables us to meet the local leaders who are key to helping maximize the On Eagles’ Wings visit and who help in the much needed follow-up harvest.

We contact local leaders, with proposed dates for the On Eagles Wings visit. While there is some flexibility in scheduling, sometimes the dates we have available are limited, which may mean that if these dates do not work out, then we may need to look to another area for scheduling of those dates. We believe strongly that God must be in charge of the scheduling of the events. The right days will work out if our plans are God’s plans.

Once you receive the tentative date this is when we need your input and advice. Below are several questions we would ask:

  1. Do these dates conflict with any tribal sponsored events (such as major pow-wow’s, tournaments, tribal fairs, etc.) Remember, our target is the lost, so we need to know if there are any other non-Christian events that may hinder their coming to our events.
  2. Do these dates conflict with any ministry sponsored events (such as camps, conferences, tent-meetings, etc.)? It’s always helpful for the local Christians and especially you as leaders to be available to see the OEW team in action.
  3. Will local leaders be available on the last night of the outreach events for our “deputizing” event? Organizers, pastors, and missionaries will be introduced to the crowd as the OEW team that remains after we leave and who will organize future On Eagles’ Wings events. This is a key moment that helps move into the follow-up stage.
